Editorial: Seeking Energy District Leaders
Editorial appearing in the Cascade Pioneer and Dyersville Commercial, January, 2020:
The Dubuque County Energy District was formed in 2017 to advance and implement energy saving programs in residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural applications. We envision one hundred percent sustainable, efficient, and/or renewable energy by 2050. Our mission is to implement the vision through education, energy planning, market transformation, investment, advocacy, and partnership in Dubuque County.
Our volunteer Board shares a common vision that low- and fixed-income residents, especially those who do not own their own homes, spend a disproportionately high amount of their income on energy bills. We believe that small business owners and farmers have unique needs as well. The Dubuque County Energy District has the resources and connections to ensure all residents benefit from energy efficiency programs.
The Dubuque County Energy District is seeking individuals to join our Board of Directors. If you live in Dubuque County and have an interest in energy conservation, the environment, and a passion to help others, you may be the person we’re looking for! We are seeking individuals from rural Dubuque County to help us navigate and direct our energies to insure we accomplish our aspirations of providing education, direction, and resources to those who will benefit the most.
If you’re interested in joining a vibrant, diversified team focused on supporting our local economy; helping individuals, farmers, and small business owners improve their bottom lines by reducing energy consumption; and providing long term enhancements to our environment by reducing our carbon footprint, we would love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Dan Splinter
Chair, Dubuque County Energy District
