CFGD receives grant to support Energy Districts

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque has received a $185,000 grant that will help provide equitable access to clean energy through the creation of energy districts.

The grant comes from the Nathan Cummings Foundation, a New York-based organization dedicated to creating an “inclusive, clean economy.”

Joleen Jansen, program coordinator for the Clayton County Energy District, will coach leaders in the new energy districts. She said the programming will be based on the successful model of the inaugural energy district in Winneshiek County, which was founded in 2009. However, each district will be localized to fit the needs of the county’s communities.
